Even though you’re already hearing Christmas music and seeing Black Friday commercials, let’s think about Thanksgiving for a minute. Counting our blessings with family and friends reminds everyone what really matters. Enjoying the simple pleasures of life on Balboa Island makes us feel grateful, too. Here are six reasons we’re thankful for Balboa Island:

Stars and Stripes on Marine Avenue

The American flags lining the street offer a patriotic welcome and a hometown feel. It may be SoCal, but it’s still small town USA!

Little Balboa Island

This quiet, secluded part of Balboa Island is three quarters of a mile of charm. Cross the bridge on Park Avenue over the Grand Canal – it’s perfect for a stroll anytime.

The Peninsula View

The panorama of the Balboa Pavilion and the Fun Zone is so recognizable. The Ferris wheel, the neon signs – it’s not hard to imagine the olden days.

The Balboa Island Ferry

This quaint, inexpensive way to cross the harbor is everyone’s favorite way to beat traffic. Let’s hope this throwback never changes!

The Yellow Horse

The familiar horsey ride in front of Our Gang’s General Store has provided years of fun for Newport kids and tourists. A few quarters gets your little cowpoke a nice long ride!

Cinnamon Rolls

A sweet, steamy cinnamon roll from the Blue Chair Bakery will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe a sticky pecan roll is your pick with a cup of coffee. What more could you ask for?
