Our four legged friends love Balboa Island as much as their masters do! With the sea air and variety of dogs to meet on the boardwalk, it’s the perfect place for a stroll.

Residents don’t seem to mind the canine population – they are out there walking their pups, too. Some signs politely request, “No dogs please,” or “Nothing grows where doggy goes,” while the Balboa Island Improvement Association provides plenty of free bags and repositories for calling card cleanup.

Balboa Island businesses on Marine Avenue keep it dog-friendly, with Classic Kids and Tutti Frutti offering doggie water bowls outside the stores. Pooches are welcome on the patio at Wilma’s and at the juice bar.

One dog day afternoon found a few Labradors and Golden Retrievers out and about, gazing longingly at the water, while a few tiny tails enjoyed some snacks outside Starbucks.

Balboa Island has gone to the dogs!
